Take Two…2.22.22

Picking up where I left off way too long ago. On October 20, 2020, I launched this blog to chronical our venture south. Then, my writing went south when life got crazy busy making the two moves – half our stuff to CHS and the other half to our new NYC apt. So, here I…

FRESH FLOWERS, 24/7

One of the things I love most about New York City is that no matter what time of year you can get fresh flowers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This little luxury can be found at most neighborhood bodegas, and is just one of the many perks of living in the city…

Very Charleston

Palmetto palms line the streets. Rows of Charleston single houses stand at attention adorned with ferns along their piazzas (side porches) behind privacy doors graced with fashionable door knockers. Wrought-iron entry gates flanked by carved pineapples atop brick pillars along with the enchanting glow of Carolina lanterns that flicker “welcome” day and night. Historical plaques…

Empire State of Mind

As my husband and I drive from ‘The City’ the lyrics to Jay Z’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ (featuring Alicia – Goddess – Keys) thrash between my ears while tears stream down my face. “Yeah …but I’ll be hood forever…and since I made it here I can make it anywhere…tell by my attitude that I’m…

About Me
Photo by Sanaan Mazhar on Pexels.com

I’m a steadfast New Yorker who never imagined she’d be moving back down south. Not that that’s a bad thing, I just always thought I’d be a lifelong New Yorker.

Originally from New Jersey, I lived in South Florida for twenty years, when my mother decided she’d had enough with winters. Being a teenager at the time, I had no choice but to go.

The consummate Jersey girl, I always dreamed of going to live and work in New York City to ‘be somebody someday.’ (Ha!)

That dream became a reality in 1998 when a career opportunity brought me to ‘The City.’ The place I have called home for the past twenty-two and a half years.

However, upon recently discovering the beauty; history; culture and diversity of the ‘Holy City’ (along with some heavy coaxing from my husband – a native NYer) I now find myself in The Low Country, trying it on for a spell.

I look forward to meeting new acquaintances, learning new customs and experiencing the historic charm and Southern hospitality this town is known for.

So, here’s to exploring my new stomping grounds.

I hope you’ll join me!
